Our client supports funded aid programs in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. They provide technical assistance to countries in our region to help strengthen their regulatory capacity and ensure access to high quality, safe and efficacious COVID 19 vaccines and assist with monitoring their safety once they have been used in a population.
They have been engaged to provide technical assistance to support:  

  • Australia’s donations of COVID-19 vaccines across 18 countries in the Pacific and Southeast Asia,
  • the identification of vaccines for procurement by developing countries in Asia and the Pacific
  • the assessment of vaccines being used internationally, but not registered in Australia, to provide advice to government about the protection offered by these vaccines.   

Duties of Position

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the regulatory roles and functions 
  • Maintain an awareness of the longer-term strategic, political, and operational priorities 
  • Monitor changes in the global regulatory, health and aid environment that may impact on the objectives of the Program and assist in the development of responses if required.
  • Work with independence, subject to limited direction against established and evolving priorities and activities to deliver quality outcomes for the Program.
  • Assist in strategic planning and Program management. Implement workplans, including setting tasks and priorities, managing workflow, and allocating resources.

Selection Criteria
Mandatory requirements
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • A scientific background (degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or pharmacy preferred) is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills including the ability to consult, liaise, negotiate, and work well with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Good written communication skills, in particular the ability to write clearly and concisely about complex matters for different audiences.
  • Experience with or ability to quickly gain understanding of the regulation of therapeutic goods.
