About the role
Our client is seeking for multiple experienced Senior Data Engineers to design, develop and construct data products and services, integrating them into systems and business processes. You will work closely with data stewards, software developers, business analysts and data scientists to ensure data, related systems and processes are fit for purpose and high quality.
You work under the limited direction of senior staff. You will exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. Decision-making is dependent on judgement, skills and knowledge. The successful candidate will manage and organise their work in the context of competing priorities, contributing to business planning, and changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies. You may have supervisory responsibilities depending on the structure of the team.
  
Note: You MUST be an Australian Citizen to be considered for these requirements. Holding a current Security Clearance is highly regarded.
  
Skills and experience

• Solid experience as a Data Engineer in large and complex, enterprise environments (preferably with Government or large organisations)
• experience and record of accomplishment in the delivery of project deliverables on time and of high quality
• Demonstrated sound communication, negotiation and liaison skills

Beneficial knowledge

• Experience in Data Administration and proven Data Engineering skills in Hadoop Technologies
• Knowledge and experience with Cloudera products and solutions
• Expertise in programming (design codes, complex programme scripts etc) E.g. Python, R, SQL, Scala, Java, etc
