  • Permanent, full time, Section 26 transfer at level
  • Salary from $92,005 to $110,020 + super at 15.4%
  • Minimum active baseline Security Clearance

About the role
Our Federal Government client is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant and an Assistant Financial Accountant at the APS 6 level to join their Government and Finance Unit.
  
This unit covers many corporate functions including administering the operational and capital works budget, developing and implementing governance arrangements across the Territories Division and developing an asset management framework in support of a broad range of complex capital investment projects.
  
Duties

  • Assisting with the planning and management of complex accounting and financial management activities, including balance sheet, treasury and external budget management and financial statements analysis and reporting
  • Providing clear direction to stakeholders on technical asset and financial accounting issues
  • Applying knowledge and gaining experience in accounting to undertake objective, systematic financial analysis and drawing accurate conclusions based on evidence
  • Assisting in the development of accounting and financial reporting advice, policies and procedures on complex to very complex accounting activities within the Division
  • Assisting in the evalu10ation of activities and processes for compliance with financial management policies and procedures
  • Assist in the coordination and provision of advice to the Executive and Managers on the internal budget strategies including infrastructure planning, partnerships and business reporting

  
Skills & experience

  • Strong financial accounting or management accounting skills and an understanding of complex financial accounting processes, practices and frameworks
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience, specifically; excel spreadsheet manipulation for actuals management, costing, data analysis and reporting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in financial reporting and budgetary management in the government sector
  • Experience in management accounting, administered and capital budgets and forecasting, and ability to draft financial reports for Executive
  • Well-developed understanding of the Commonwealth budget framework
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and managing complex accounting issues and providing appropriate solutions to resolve or mitigate
