APS 6  Communications Officer

Our Federal Government client is seeking an APS 6 Communications Officer to support external and internal communications relating to publication releases, education programs and the development of engaging content for the promotion of the agency’s activities.
  
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Contribute to internal communications strategy to support enhanced communications across hybrid work environment
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive communications plans for internal and external audiences that consider a broad range of target audiences with tailored messaging
  • Draft and edit external stakeholder emails, media releases, briefing notes and topical social media content for the release of publications, consultations, digital learning programs and events
  • Manage internal communications, including internal initiatives, team building and intranet content (via SharePoint) that fosters an inclusive and supportive culture
  • Develop creative briefs for the production of marketing collateral such as graphics, fact sheets, infographics, signage and presentations with a strong understanding of the application of brand and visual identity
  • Monitor, report and evaluate marketing and communication campaigns that inform and improve future strategies
  • Supporting the Digital Media Coordinator to deliver multimedia digital marketing campaigns

  
Mandatory Skills & Experience

  • Possess excellent and diverse copywriting skills with demonstrable experience in producing clear and accessible content based on Plain English principles
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism or other relevant qualifications will be an advantage
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the print and digital media landscape, including familiarity with website and social media platforms
  • Have a strong understanding of communication data analysis to report, track and interpret analytics of promotional campaigns, for increased lead generation
  • Able to identify, develop, research and leverage topical issues and news.
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge of graphic design software, such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, alongside a strong ability and interest to cultivate ideas, maintain brand identity and reputation, and elevate design assets
